Forex Flash: Japanese PM Abe visits Obama - BBH
Brown Brothers Harriman analysts note that Japanese Prime Minister Abe visits US President Obama and there may be too many issues on Abe's agenda.
Firstly, they suspect that he will call on the YS to beef up regional security and secondly he would look for access to US shale. They write, “What has been called the "Asian pivot" and the recent actions by North Korea means there is much common ground on security issues. The Abe government is increasing defense spending for the first time over a decade. “ Further, they feel that in the light of a proposed Chinese led regional trade bloc which excludes the US, Japan may come under pressure from the US to participate in the US-led Pacific area trade agreement (TPP).
